Terms of Service

Plain-language terms. New Zealand jurisdiction. Honest about what we offer and what we ask in return.

1. The agreement

By signing up at kete.one or using the Kete app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't sign up. We're operated by Bruce Rawiri in Rotorua, Aotearoa New Zealand.

2. The service

Kete is a private personal AI ecosystem — vault, voice companion, and a set of apps. Two tiers: Koha (free) and Individual ($4.99 NZD/month). Web signup at kete.one; the app is for login + use after you've signed up.

3. Your account

  • · You must be 16+ to sign up.
  • · One account per person.
  • · You're responsible for keeping your password secure.
  • · You verify your email before using the service.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use Kete to:

  • · Break NZ law, or any law that applies where you are.
  • · Harass, threaten, or harm anyone.
  • · Try to break, exploit, or extract from our infrastructure.
  • · Resell access without permission.

5. Payment + cancellation

  • · Individual is $4.99 NZD/month, billed via Stripe.
  • · Cancel any time from your account settings — you keep paid features until the end of your billing period.
  • · No refunds for partial months.
  • · If you cancel, your account reverts to Koha (free) — your data stays.

6. Your data is yours

You own everything you put in your kete. We don't sell it, rent it, share it, or train external models on it. Full delete cascade if you ask us to remove your account — every byte goes. See our Privacy Policy for the detail.

7. The service is "as is"

We provide Kete with care, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance happens. Internet has bad days. We do our best, but we can't promise zero downtime, especially during the family/friends dogfood phase.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by NZ law: our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. If you're a consumer under the NZ Consumer Guarantees Act, that Act's protections apply and these limits don't override your statutory rights.

9. Termination

You can close your account any time — see Privacy Policy for the delete process. We can suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, with notice when reasonably possible.

10. Changes

We update these terms occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top tracks changes. Material changes get an email to your account. Continuing to use Kete after a change means you accept the new terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Disputes are handled in NZ courts.
